It’s internet-based and everything is stored on the cloud, anytime I log on, I’m brought to where I last worked and I don’t lose anything across the devices. I can write from my computer at work on my lunch. This makes writing on the go so much easier.

There is offline access but I haven’t tested it out yet. As long as there is an internet connection, you can get to your draft. So, I’m going to give you some reasons why I like Dabble over Scrivener.ĭabble is useable on any device. That is too much work so I only want to move over the ones I actually need. I’m not transferring anything over unless I start working on an old project. I’ve officially switched over to Dabble for all my book projects that I’m currently working on. I know you don’t have to pick a template but even the blank template is messy. Now, before you tell me that Scrivener is not hard to open up, constantly trying to figure out a template to use just to write is annoying. Just opening up the program was a million times easier than Scrivener. The first thing I should say is that the hype is valid, friends.

But a free trial gave me the freedom to try the program, skepticism and all, to find out if it was really worth the hype that it was giving itself. There were a lot of things, in my mind, that were working against this program. I had only heard about it from a random comment from a Facebook page.
I was very skeptical about this program for a few reasons.

I know it’s because I don’t know how to use it, but it feels like there is a lot of setup just to use the program properly.īack to Dabble, they were offering a free trial so I downloaded the program and immediately started working on my book in it. I’ve written books using that program and well, I still don’t understand all the hype about it. I know it could be a very beneficial program for me to use to write my books. Seriously, I’ve been using Scrivener for years and well, I still know next to nothing. A program that is powerful like Scrivener without all the extra classes I would have to take? Where do I sign up!? I was immediately hit with the phrase, Like Scrivener without the learning curve. Someone mentioned a program called Dabble and it caused me to go into research mode and learn about it. One day I was scrolling through Facebook when I read a comment from a page for writers at my university. Would it hurt to add one to a program file?

Instruction manuals used to be a thing too. In the day in age we live in, I feel like programs should be more self-explanatory. Which got frustrating because well, programs shouldn’t be this hard to learn. Also, when I finally started looking into learning about Scrivener, all the videos were over an hour long and all the blog posts could have been ebook novellas. I would rather be spending my time writing. I don’t want to spend more time learning how to use a program than I do using the program. Maybe it’s a product of being a millennial and growing up with computers and knowing how to use the entirety of Microsoft Office by the time I was ten, but I do not like programs that have deep learning curves. In both cases, trying to get the manuscript exported properly was more stressful than writing the actual book. I wrote my first book in Scrivener and my second. However, I have struggled with Scrivener ever since I got it.
When you hear a whole bunch of writers come to a consensus on something, you tend to believe it. I was told that it was the best and I believed it. I also like being part of the cool kids club, so when I heard about a program that was perfect for writers and the best writing program to exist, I had to have it. I love technology and anything that promises to make things easier so I always want to learn more and know more. It doesn’t help that anytime I hear of a new writing program, I research it and read all I can about it.
It might be a me thing, but trying to figure out the right writing program for me has been a stressful endeavor.
